A brief look at the calendar the other day, and oh gosh we are at the end of July.

What have we been up to?

Let’s see. We have been spending time checking out locations in the local vicinity for photo opportunities and possible tour destinations. Tours, I hear you say. Yes, we’re developing plans to run photographic tours in the Highlands. Watch this space; plans are to run first ones next year.

Produced our first Vlog; Photographers vs Crows. If you haven’t seen it, here’s the link https://youtu.be/b-OoW-RlcoY  Have a look at our YouTube channel, you can subscribe for updates.

Watching and photographing the crows has been a wonderful experience. They are such clever birds and they never cease to amaze us. By chance the other day we were witness to, two of the juvenile birds playing with a leaf. Then one of the youngsters rolled over on its back. Being on a small bank it just rolled down, still playing with the leaf. It was just fascinating to watch, something we’ve never seen before.

Our wood is a useful resource for photographic subjects, both plant and animal. Problem is, persuading animals, to have their picture taken. To this end, earlier this week, drill in hand we constructed a photo log for the woodpeckers. It consists of a Christmas tree holder with an old log secured into it. Log has several holes drilled in it filled with fat. Tasty bites for a young woodpecker. We will keep you updated on our progress.

And the badgers couldn’t leave them out. We now have two badgers visiting on a regular basis. One we have called Badgey-badge and the other Padawan learner. Bb is the more senior and is teaching the Padwan the ways of the badger. To our delight, on windless evenings we are able to sit out on our patio and watch them. They are actually very noisy eaters.
